Background
The Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia experienced an increase in its revenue by 9%, which rose to $120 billion in 2025, while simultaneously increasing its net income to $17 billion, which is three times the income the fund used to earn before because of the increment in dividends from its investment portfolio.
In addition, the fund owned more than $900 billion in assets, and its total return for the shareholders was 5.8% per annum since 2017. This was mainly as a result of the gains realized from its investments through dividends as well as the negative effect of valuation losses on some of its assets.
This year, PIF expanded its funding base by issuing a Commercial Paper facility and its first green bonds priced in euros. PIF has strong ratings from Moody’s and Fitch and was the first to receive a short-term rating from S&P.
The important companies created by PIF in 2025 include HUMAIN and the Expo 2030 Riyadh Company, where the former is supposed to create skills in artificial intelligence while the latter is responsible for developing and operating the sites for the 2030 Expo in Riyadh. PIF has invested over $199 billion in investments in Saudi Arabia from 2021 to 2025.
Maram Aljohani, Chief of Staff and Secretary General to the Board of the Public Investment Fund, reported that in 2025, the fund contributed 11% of the kingdom’s non-oil GDP, making the investments outside the kingdom grow by 12% in foreign capital and opening offices in Europe and Asia.
