Key Background :
Dubai Taxi Company (DTC) has taken a major step forward in digitizing urban transportation by adding more than 6,000 of its vehicles to the Bolt ride-hailing platform. This large-scale integration aims to streamline access to taxis across the emirate and aligns with Dubai’s Smart Mobility Strategy, which aims to digitalize 80% of taxi rides.
The expanded fleet comprises regular taxis and the extra services of Ladies and Family Taxis and People of Determination cars. This covers all sections of Dubai citizens. The customers can book the DTC cars quite conveniently on the Bolt app with the advantage of no surge pricing and cashback offer promotions.
As a move to encourage bulk usage, Bolt is offering a 30% cashback on the first three DTC cab rides taken through its app. This is a part of a mega initiative to habituate individuals towards convenience and reliability of travelling through the app for day-to-day commuting needs. It also boosts customer satisfaction through guaranteed stability of fares during peak hours.
Union is the central focus of DTC’s 2025–2029 strategy, where its main focus is on digitalization, sustainability, and the setup of smart mobility services. DTC is already a transport giant in the UAE with over 9,500 vehicles and 18,000 drivers. Apart from this acquisition of Bolt, it strengthens its hold even more and opens up new avenues of revenues and operations growth.
As the local e-hailing market becomes increasingly competitive, partnerships between leading mobility platforms and significant transport operators will drive the innovation. The project places the public transport system in the future and brings Dubai nearer to becoming a world leader in smart city mobility.
