Background

The 29th Arab-German Business Forum opened in Berlin on Thursday, bringing together senior government officials, diplomats and business leaders to explore new opportunities for trade, investment and economic cooperation between the Arab world and Germany.

The three-day event, running from June 17 to 19, is taking place under the theme “Beyond Transformation: Intelligence, Innovation, and Impact.” Organizers said the forum focuses on the growing influence of technology, innovation and digital transformation in shaping the future of global economies.

The opening session attracted representatives from Arab and German institutions, including German Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy Katherina Reiche, Qatar’s Minister of State for Foreign Trade Affairs Ahmad Mohammed Al-Sayed and diplomats from several Arab countries.

Participants highlighted the importance of strengthening commercial ties and creating new avenues for collaboration across sectors.

This year’s program features discussions on a broad range of industries that are expected to play a major role in future economic growth. Topics include artificial intelligence, research and development, healthcare resilience, industrial cooperation, sustainable reconstruction, energy and water sustainability, tourism development and digital trust.

Alongside the main sessions, organizers have scheduled specialized roundtables and country-focused meetings aimed at connecting investors, companies and policymakers. The forum includes discussions aimed at uncovering new areas for investment and expanding commercial cooperation.

Participants stressed the importance of turning discussions into concrete projects and deeper economic cooperation. They said closer collaboration could encourage innovation, attract investment and support future growth.

The forum has established itself as a key platform for Arab-German economic engagement over nearly three decades.
