Background

During the first half of the year 2026, Kuwait Oil Company signed 129 contracts worth KD2.2 billion ($7.2 billion) in order to fast-track its investments and increase its oil production capabilities. The value of these contracts is commensurate with the company’s objective of building its drilling, exploration, and oil field capabilities.

The contracts involve various kinds of projects like drilling, flowline construction, cementing and testing, infrastructure development, consultancy, cybersecurity, medical services, and others.

The month of February saw the maximum contract values, which totalled close to KD650 million for 20 contracts. The largest project was the integrated Mutriba development valued at KD466.6 million. The company also approved projects for water injection networks in northern Kuwait and pipeline infrastructure.

During March, 27 contracts totaling KD250 million were signed by KOC, with the contracts geared toward drilling and production operations. In April, 20 contracts with a total value of KD500 million were inked for health insurance, flowline build work and cementing services too.

The company continued its investment drive in May by awarding 29 contracts worth nearly KD300 million, including major flowline construction packages valued at KD195.7 million, along with drilling equipment and consultancy services.

During June, KOC signed 20 contracts worth around KD320 million. Key projects included the Wadi Al Ahmadi Innovation Research Center, electric submersible pump systems and rock drill bit supply contracts.

The latest investments underline KOC’s ongoing commitment to the development of oilfield infrastructure, deployment of advanced technologies and increased operational efficiency to support Kuwait’s future energy production targets.
