Background-
QNB Egypt has opened a branch at Al Amreya Dry Port in Alexandria Governorate. The branch will offer banking and trade finance services to businesses that operate at the facility, according to an emailed press release.
The opening took place as the port was inaugurated and began operations.
The branch will handle import and export transactions, payments and collections, and the issuance of letters of credit and letters of guarantee. It will also serve companies in maritime activities, logistics and customs clearance, with a focus on smoother financial transactions and better business efficiency.
The move fits QNB Egypt’s strategy to build a presence in key economic hubs and offer specialized banking services to the trade, transport and logistics sectors.
Mohamed Khairat, Assistant CEO, Board Member and Chief Business Officer at QNB Egypt, said the branch marks another step in strengthening the bank’s presence across key sectors. He said the bank aims to support trade and logistics businesses, ease their financial transactions and deliver services that match their needs.
Egypt built Al Amreya Dry Port with an investment of EGP 700 million. The facility covers about 146,000 square meters and links seaports, industrial areas and distribution centers. By combining different modes of transport, the port aims to speed up cargo handling, ease congestion at seaports and cut transport time and costs.
The project forms part of the Ministry of Transport’s plan to develop integrated logistics corridors and position Egypt as a regional hub for transport, logistics and transit trade. Safety Link manages and operates the dry port.
