Background :
Dewa International, the overseas investment arm of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, is expanding its global reach through new partnerships with international financial and infrastructure investors.
A senior delegation led by Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and Chief Executive of Dewa and Chairman of Dewa International, recently visited London to meet leadership at ING, a Dutch bank specialising in sustainable lending and infrastructure financing, and Actis, a global investor focused on sustainable infrastructure, energy and real estate in growth markets.
The visit forms part of Dewa’s strategy to strengthen global partnerships and deepen cooperation with companies specialising in infrastructure investment, the utility said in a statement. The delegation included Waleed bin Salman, Executive Vice President of Business Development and Excellence, Marwan bin Haidar, Executive Vice President of Innovation and the Future, and other senior officials.
Al Tayer said Dewa had driven Dubai’s growth over the decades through ambition and consistent performance, noting that the utility ranks first globally across thirteen key performance indicators and holds two leading regional positions in production, transmission, distribution and customer service.
Dewa International was recently set up to strengthen Dubai’s global position and extend the utility’s operating model to international markets, drawing on its expertise in project development, finance, technology and digital innovation. The unit plans to develop, finance, deliver and operate power and water infrastructure projects worldwide.
Al Tayer noted that Dewa achieved a world record for electricity customer minutes lost, along with some of the lowest transmission and distribution losses globally. He added that the utility continues to work toward Dubai’s clean energy and net-zero carbon goals.
