Key Background:

Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, Bandar bin Ibrahim Alkhorayef, recently met with Greek officials to boost cooperation in industry and mining.

He was talking with the Minister of Environment and Energy of Greece, Stavros Papastavrou, and the Minister of Development, Dr. Takis Theodorikakos, about investment opportunities, knowledge sharing, and introducing new mining technologies in Saudi Arabia.

They also highlighted ways for Greek mining companies to invest in the Kingdom and help grow its mining sector. “We are keen to strengthen collaboration and attract quality investments that support the Kingdom’s industrial diversification,” said Minister Alkhorayef.

The talks also covered working together in industrial clusters, infrastructure, and maritime industries. Both countries stressed using technology and expertise to support sustainable industrial growth.

Alkhorayef also invited the Greek ministers to the fifth annual Future Minerals Forum in Riyadh, from January 13 to 15. The forum is a global event to discuss mining trends, form international partnerships, and support sustainable mineral supply chains.

The meetings were attended by Saudi Ambassador to Greece Ali bin Abdulrahman Al-Yousef, National Industrial Development Center President Eng. Saleh Al-Solami, and key leaders from the Kingdom’s industry and mining ecosystem.

The visit by Alkhorayef shows that Saudi Arabia tries to develop good relations with other countries, encourages foreign investments, and develops industrial and mining industries. Through cooperation with Greece, the Kingdom will enhance innovation, sustainable development, and economic growth.

This international cooperation will open up new avenues to trade, share of technology, and investment to the benefit of both Saudi Arabia and Greece.
