Background
The Chinese solar energy firm Trinasolar has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with the company known as “Al-Raebi for Trading & Solar Energy Systems Company” regarding a possible 1.5 GW solar project pipeline within Yemen from 2023 to 2029.
The two firms will be seeking out projects where large-scale solar energy development can take place within Yemen and the Middle East. This may include the deployment of Trinasolar’s latest TOPCon 3.0 modules for utility-scale and commercial energy projects. The agreement sets out a framework for both companies to assess project opportunities, technical requirements and future cooperation models.
Todd Li, President of Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa Region at Trinasolar, said the MoU marked an important step in strengthening the company’s presence in Yemen and supporting the country’s renewable energy development. He added that combining Trinasolar’s photovoltaic module technology and global project experience with Al-Raebi’s local market knowledge would help explore opportunities contributing to long-term energy security and sustainable development in Yemen and the broader region.
Abdullah Raebi, CEO & Director of the Al-Raebi for Trading & Solar Energy Systems Company, described the alliance as an example of the firm’s efforts to provide quality and dependable solar solutions in Yemen. This is because Yemen is getting hit with more and more demands for energy and power solutions that are affordable.
